GENE SIMMONS: The 'Asshole' Concept Doesn't Work In Japan
May 28, 2004KISS hit Japan Thursday (May 27) for the first of six dates, including a three-night stand at the Budokan Hall in Tokyo. Besides playing live, bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons is also promoting his new solo album "Asshole", which comes out in the U.S. on June 8. Simmons is hosting "Asshole" parties while on tour, but he told Launch Radio Networks there won't be any of those in Japan: "Asshole, the word and the concept, doesn't work as well in Japan," he said. "They don't quite understand what that means. We use that term — the thing that we sit on — as an expletive. In Japanese, they use a different word, so it doesn't quite have the humor part of it, the thing that makes us all laugh about it."
KISS and POISON kick off their "Rock The Nation" tour on June 10 in Selma, Texas. Support at the shows will come from the unsigned Brooklyn-based trio ZO2.
